Because DSP roles can vary significantly depending on the setting, we want to be upfront about what to expect: This is a highly stable, laid-back environment. Our residents have no major behavioral challenges, making this an ideal position for someone who excels at providing consistent, compassionate, daily living support in a calm atmosphere. Duties Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, ensuring comfort and dignity. Monitor residents' health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting any concerns promptly. Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations to maintain confidentiality. Prepare nutritious meals, assist with cooking, and ensure proper meal planning aligned with dietary needs. Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident's personal assistive devices to safely transfer individuals with mobility challenges. Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and adhering to infection control protocols. Document care activities accurately in compliance with HIPAA standards and organizational policies. Skills Proven experience in group home settings, assisted living, or home health care environments. Knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to monitor vital signs effectively. Familiarity with caring for individuals with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, autism spectrum disorders, or memory care needs. CPR and First Aid certification are required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are preferred. Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physical tasks related to patient transfers and mobility assistance. Strong communication skills for working collaboratively with team members, residents, families, and healthcare professionals.
