Job Description

Job Summary The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities or special needs. This position involves providing compassionate care and support in the home and community. The DSP will assist clients with daily living activities, promote independence, and ensure their overall well-being. Duties Provide personal care and assistance with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation. Support clients in developing and following care plans tailored to their individual needs. Engage clients in social activities to promote interaction and community involvement. Transportation required. Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping duties. Communicate effectively with clients, families, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care. Document client progress and report any changes in behavior or health status to the appropriate personnel. Provide first aid as necessary and respond to emergencies according to established protocols. Qualifications Previous experience in caregiving or a related field is preferred; experience with disabilities and special needs is a plus. Knowledge of basic first aid techniques and ability to perform CPR will be required after onboarding. Familiarity with care plans and the ability to implement them effectively. Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate approach to caregiving. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be able to pass background checks as required by state regulations. A valid driver's license, automobile and current insurance policy required as transporting client is required. This position is essential for fostering independence while ensuring safety and support for individuals in need. Schedule:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 8:30-5:30 pm/Wednesday 8:30-6:30 pm with some Saturday work as needed.
