Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or health challenges. In this vital role, you will assist residents with daily activities, monitor their well-being, and promote independence within a safe and nurturing environment. Your energetic approach will help foster a positive atmosphere where residents feel valued, respected, and empowered to thrive. Responsibilities Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary. Monitor residents' health by taking vital signs, observing for changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately while adhering to HIPAA privacy regulations. Support medication administration and ensure care plans are followed precisely to meet individual needs. Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary requirements, assist with cooking, and maintain cleanliness in common areas and resident rooms. Provide compassionate patient care during activities such as dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, and hospice support. Engage residents in social activities and community outings to promote socialization and mental stimulation. Maintain detailed documentation of care provided, incident reports, and resident progress in compliance with healthcare standards. Qualifications Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly desirable. Knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs measurement, medication administration, and basic first aid including CPR certification. Experience with specialized care such as Alzheimer's care, dementia care, autism support, or hospice is preferred. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate mobility aids like Hoyer lifts efficiently. Strong communication skills with a focus on patient monitoring and compassionate caregiving. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of resident information. Valid certifications in CPR and first aid are required; additional certifications related to nursing or social work are a plus.
