Job Description

HANDS LLC OF ROWAN
seeks to employ Day Program support staff for adults with IDD. You must pass a background check and a healthcare registry check. This is a first shift position M-F full time 7 a.m. - 3 p.m. One weekend out of month!! 17.00hr The primary responsibility of the Day Services Direct Support is to provide training and supervision of

individuals attending the Day Services Program. This para-professional position provides specialized daily training, and assistance with training on projects in the day program, community, as well as training on behavior management techniques. The Direct Support Trainer emphasis is instructional (training individuals) in nature, rather than custodial, (doing for the individuals). As a para-professional, the Direct Support Staff is expected to be self-directed, self-motivated, well- organized, willing to increase their knowledge of developmental disabilities, and at all times display total professionalism in their attitude, appearance, and in their relationships with individuals and co-workers. The well-being of our individuals is always the utmost priority; therefore, it is imperative that the Direct Support Staff is to be fully aware of, and an advocate for the rights of individuals with disabilities. Essential Job Duties include but are not limited to: 1. Complete the following training and be recertified when required: Medication Administration (annual), First-Aid (2 years), CPR (2 years), Bloodborne Pathogens (annual), Health & Safety, Individual Rights (annual), Behavior Management Training, PIP (annual). 2. Provide service and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities (mental health, social and communication challenges). 3. Work cooperatively and openly with supervisor, co-workers, parents, guardians, and other appropriate persons involved with the individual. Relay pertinent information to co-workers. 4. Uphold individual confidentiality and ensure that individual rights are always being implemented. 5. Be flexible regarding work schedule, assignments, and procedures. 6. Implement all goals as scheduled on individual's plan of care; collect and document data when the goal is run. 7. Utilize Therap Electronic Medical Record System. 8. Report allegations of abuse immediately. 9. Assist individuals with behaviors, learning work skills, and other work-related issues (e.g., hygiene, appearance, staying on work schedule, etc.) and provide job support (as needed), train, monitor and assist individuals in job settings. 10. Assist with the development of individual-specific schedules using agency approved methods and ensure schedules are being properly completed. 11. Assist with task analysis and implementation of individuals' goals. 12. Maintain a safe and orderly training environment. 13. Monitor and implement behavior modification programs (using agency approved and trained procedures if applicable). Notify issues to supervisor. 14. Encourage individuals' independence and self-advocacy, ensure the awareness of individual rights. 15. Attend in-service trainings as arranged and required - staff meetings, etc. 16. Administer medications, if applicable. 17. Administer CPR/First Aid, if needed. 18. Write incident reports, as required. 19. Provide information to the supervisor as needed to note problems. 20. Ensure compliance with agency policy and procedures. 21. Participate in site drills (fire, safety, emergency, disaster) and adhere to safety procedures. Day Services DST Job Description 22. Qualifications:
High school diploma or some college. Must have valid driver license. Experience providing support to individuals with special needs is preferred. Regular and predictable attendance. Must be able to stand, sit, walk, run, climb, bend, crouch, stoop, push, pull, twist, reach, lift, hear and see the individuals. Must be physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of performing the essential job duties. Ability to deal with stress and behaviors associated with individuals with developmental disabilities, which requires intense one on one contact and management. The ability to manage the individual's behaviors, (including but not limited to scratching, pinching, kicking, biting, hitting, etc.) that are the result of their disabilities. These behaviors could be sexually offensive and possibly viewed by untrained people as sexually harassing. Physical strength and lung capacity to administer CPR. Ability to implement PIP. procedures if necessary. If applicable be able to assist individual (up to 200 pounds) from floor position with other staff assistance. You must present two kinds of identification and a copy of your high school diploma or transcript at the time of your interview. All required training must be completed before your start date. All trainings are paid. Salisbury and surrounding areas.
