Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Lead Direct Support Professional (Lead DSP) provides 1:1 in-home and community-based support services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities while serving as a leader and mentor for Direct Support Professionals. This position assists with staff training, client intakes and scheduling support when not providing direct care, this ensure services are delivered in compliance with Nebraska DHHS, Medicaid Waiver, and agency standards. The Lead DSP helps individuals achieve greater independence, community inclusion, and personal goals through person-centered supports. DD Administrator Duties/Responsibilities:
Direct Support Provide individualized 1:1 supports in home and community settings. Assist with daily living skills, personal care, medication administration, transportation, and community integration. Implement Person-Centered Plans and support individuals in achieving their goals. Promote independence, self-advocacy, dignity, and community participation. Leadership & Administrative Support Mentor, train, and support DSP staff. Assist with onboarding, staff training, and performance coaching. Participate in client intakes and admissions processes. Support administrative staff with quality assurance and compliance activities. Serve as a resource for staff regarding policies, procedures, and best practices. Scheduling & Coverage Help coordinate staffing coverage and service continuity. Fill open shifts as needed primarily between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM . Maintain flexibility to support client and program needs. Documentation & Compliance Complete accurate documentation, incident reports, and service notes. Ensure compliance with agency policies, Medicaid Waiver requirements, and Nebraska DD regulations. Report concerns regarding health, safety, abuse, neglect, or exploitation immediately.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must possess a strong service orientation, including active listening, critical thinking skills, and close monitoring of clients.
- Basic understanding of medical terminology.
Education and Experience:
- Ability to pass required background checks
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- More than two years of experience preferred.
- First Aid Training preferred
- Current CPR Training preferred
- Experience in caring for adults in homes, nursing homes, or related settings.
- Strong communication skills, including reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
- Ability to provide personal care and safe transfers.
- Must be able to arrange for transportation to clients' homes.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record (if transporting individuals).
Physical Requirements:
- Requires the ability to stand/lean/walk for prolonged periods.
- The worker must be able to move objects using up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds continuously.
- Requires ability to grasp, pull, push, carry, or otherwise manipulate objects; ability to perform tasks requiring action of muscles or groups of muscles; and foot and hand-eye coordination.
- Requires the ability to speak clearly and effectively communicate self-understoodness in face-to-face interactions; articulates accurately to communicate using the phone.
- The candidate mustbe able to hear and receive verbal instructions correctly, answer phones, and communicate professionally with people in situations with some background noise. Work Environment
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Position is required to travel to various client homes and perform in conditions that vary greatly depending upon the client's home environment.
Some homes will be clean, neat, and maintained at a comfortable temperature. Other homes may be cluttered, dirty, and have an uncomfortable temperature.
