Direct Support Professional guide and support individuals with developmental disabilities to complete their daily life need such as brushing their teeth, bathing, using the bathroom, dressing, cooking, vacuuming, washing dishes, doing laundry, tidying and transporting. All direct support professional shall drive safe and shall keep the individuals safe from potential health hazards in their surrounding environment.- Comply with all Federal Laws, DHS-DDD Community Care Program (CCP) Manual, New Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) standards and circulars, local regulation plus the group home policies and procedures.
- Report potential, suspected, or actual violations of laws, regulations, or policies to the management, as soon as such an infraction is identified.
- Report all types of abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation witnessed by or made aware of by an employee.
- Report all unusual incident immediately to management and write in the critical log.
- Provide a report at the end of the shift with all items that tracking per doctor's order.
- Must cooperate with division staff in any inspection or investigation as well as Federal or Local Government Investigators.
- Perform responsibilities in accordance with the group home policies, practices, procedures, and applicable laws.
- Ensures that all necessary mandated documents are secured such as random drug test result, training, valid driving license etc...
- Respect the confidentiality of all information regarding clients and families and protect that client's dignity is not compromised in any way.
- Ensure that a safe and healthy environment is maintained for all clients at all times.
- Stay alert and attentive to the individuals you are supporting.
- Arrive on time for your shift.
- Respect and support your coworkers.
- Stay with the individual you are supporting until your coworker showed up at the end of the shift.
- Notify the management (8) eight hours before the shift if you can't report for duty unless it is emergency.
