  • We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional specializing in American Sign Language (ASL) to empower individuals with developmental disabilities, including those with autism and other challenges.
In this vital role, you will serve as a compassionate advocate, providing personalized support that fosters independence, enhances communication, and promotes community integration. Your energetic approach will help create a positive environment where clients feel valued, understood, and motivated to achieve their goals. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives through direct caregiving, behavioral health support, and effective communication. Duties Provide direct support to individuals with disabilities, utilizing American Sign Language to facilitate clear and respectful communication. Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, dressing, meal preparation, and mobility assistance. Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors in accordance with individualized plans. Support clients in participating in community activities, outings, and social events to foster independence and social skills. Collect data on client progress, behavior patterns, and service delivery to inform care plans and ensure quality documentation. Administer medications following prescribed protocols when necessary and document medication administration accurately. Drive clients safely to appointments, activities, or community events while maintaining adherence to transportation safety standards. Collaborate with families, social workers, educators, and healthcare professionals to coordinate care plans and ensure holistic support. Experience Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is highly preferred. Knowledge of special education principles and behavioral health practices is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities in home or community settings. Strong communication skills in American Sign Language are essential for this role. Experience in caregiving or direct support roles that involve assisting with ADLs and behavior management is desirable. Familiarity with data collection methods related to client progress and behavioral tracking. Valid driver's license and safe driving record are required for transportation duties. Additional experience in social work, home & community care, or medication administration will be considered a plus.
