3 Albuquerque, NM Job Details Full-time From $20 an hour 10 hours ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Full Job Description The Neuro Rehab Tech/Smart Living Teacher will specialize in home health in the ABQ and Rio Rancho area to persons with Brain Injury in a home setting and will teach, train, observe, supervise and provide assistance and strategies to help participants gain independence. Teach functional daily living skills including behavior, communication and social skills as well as community-based skills. Teach and assist with executive skills such as budgeting, managing appointments and assisting with correspondence. Teach and assist with household tasks and housekeeping skills. Will provide comprehensive customized programming of smart devices and will provide comprehensive travel training such as teaching participants how to use Wayfinder smartphone technology and public transportation in a safe, and, ultimately, independent capacity.   • Staff provide in-home and community-based support to participants by teaching daily living, communication, social, and behavioral skills based on individualized plans. Life Skills Coaching

  • Responsibilities include teaching basic technology skills—such as using phones, tablets, and computers—and providing guidance on scheduling tools, reminders, task lists, email use, document organization, and cyber awareness.   • Staff provide teaching, skill-building, and supportive assistance to residents to participants based on individualized Outcome Goals Plans. Behavior Management and Intervention
  • Provide effective teaching and support with behavior management such as help with emotional needs and anger management. Advocacy and Choice
  • Support and aid residents and participants in appropriately making choices in their own lives Communication
  • Communicate effectively with residents and participants receiving services, co-workers, supervisors, families, team members, visitors, and others as necessary to ensure the needs of the participants are met. Teamwork
  • Work as part of a team and perform all duties. Actively listen and participate in team meetings, respecting the opinions, experience and input of team members. May be assigned to work at other ARCA locations to meet ARCA program needs. Health

  • Must prepare, attend and engage in meetings and performance reviews, accepting and providing constructive feedback. Abuse/Neglect/ Emergency Situations
  • Treats individuals served with dignity and respect at all times. As required by law, reports all suspected instances of abuse, neglect, exploitation, environmental hazard, suspicious injury and/or injury of unknown origin to the appropriate authorities in accordance with ARCA policies and procedures.   • Has full access to Protected Health Information (PHI) to carry out job responsibilities in compliance with HIPAA regulations and ARCA policies and procedures on confidentiality.
Requires the physical ability to perform routine household tasks — walking, bending, lifting, and carrying — and to assist participants with cleaning, cooking, laundry, shopping, and daily living activities. Must be able to supervise, guide, and support participants with mobility needs and follow behavior-management protocols, including Mandt/CPI when required. Requires effective communication with participants, including those with limited or no speech, and accurate documentation of goals, activities, and interventions. Must remain alert during all shifts. Work occurs in home and community settings with individuals with acquired brain injuries, either independently or with a team. Must provide transportation using an ARCA or insured personal vehicle, with travel in Bernalillo and Santa Fe Counties. Must have a minimum of six months of experience and/or training in health care, preferably working with adults who have brain injuries, both cognitive and physical impairment, or equivalent combination of experience and training. CBIS certification preferred. If not currently certified, must obtain CBIS certification /Brain Injury Fundamentals within twenty-four (24) months of employment. High school diploma or GED is required. Valid New Mexico Driver's License and a good driving record if driving is an essential function of the position. Some positions may require the use of an insured, enclosed vehicle.
