Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Job Coach provides on-site support to individuals with disabilities, helping them gain and maintain competitive employment. This role promotes independence through job skill development, workplace communication, and collaboration with Project SEARCH and other supported employment programming to support internship success and integration into the workforce.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide on-site training and individualized job support in real-world work environments. Support interns and employees in learning job tasks, building routines, and meeting workplace expectations. Teach and model professional workplace behavior, communication skills, and problem-solving strategies. Promote independence by gradually reducing support as skills improve. Gradually reduce support as individuals gain confidence and skill. Assist individuals in navigating social interactions and adapting to workplace culture. Serve as a liaison between individuals, employers, and the Employment Program Coordinator. Build and maintain positive relationships with employers and address any workplace concerns. Collaborate with community partners and agencies such as Vocational Rehabilitation to coordinate services and support successful employment outcomes. Provide transportation training to individuals as needed to support transportation independently. Coordinate with Employment Program Coordinator, employers, Project SEARCH staff, families, and support agencies to ensure consistent communication and job success. Help identify reasonable accommodation and assistive tools when needed. Maintain accurate documentation of attendance, progress, and observations. Support individuals with soft skills such as punctuality, hygiene, appropriate attire, and teamwork. Participate in team meetings and provide feedback on intern and employee performance. Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule:
Part-time, Monday through Friday, 30 hours per week.
Essential Functions:
Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods. Lift up to 50 lbs as needed. Work in various job settings and adjust to diverse environments. Maintain flexibility.
Required Qualifications:
18 years or older with valid photo ID and work eligibility. High School Diploma or GED. Reliable transportation and valid driver's license. Ability to complete the required training.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Background in supported employment, vocational rehabilitation, or job coaching. Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
