Job Summary:
This is a full-time position with hours that vary.
Position Overview:
Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) directly serve individuals experiencing intellectual and developmental disabilities by providing care, support, and skill building training.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Follow individual client programs and support documents, data tracking to meet medical, life skills, social skills and behavior needs/goals.
  • Advocate for the needs and wants of the clients
  • Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs)
  • Assist in grocery shopping, food preparation and cooking
  • Assist in client financial budgeting and tracking financial transactions
  • Schedule and attend medical appointments and complete proper documentation
  • Ensure medications are properly being administered & no lapse in refills
  • Participate in client activity planning and implementation
  • Provide social skills training for integration into the community
  • Transport clients into the community (approved drivers only)
  • Model appropriate behavior
  • Read written and electronic communications in a timely manner
  • Use Therap, email, and other communication tools appropriately
  • Comply with all relevant Oregon Administrative Rules (OARs)
  • Maintain all required certifications and licenses without lapses
  • Attend all staff meetings as scheduled
  • Work independently or as an active member of a team
  • Other duties as assigned or necessary to support the program and/or agency

Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
Certifications & License Requirements:
  • Valid Driver license with clean driving record
  • Employer will conduct background checks, including ODHS Criminal History
  • Eighteen (18) years of age
Work Environment:
  • Residential and community settings
  • While performing duties of the job employees may frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, crouch, lift, push, and pull
  • Occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds
  • Effectively communicate through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on the telephone
  • Drive in various road and weather conditions
  • Work irregular days and/or hours, if needed based on client
