The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for clients, demonstrating patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills. As a DSP, you will play a vital role in assisting with daily activities, promoting independence, and fostering a safe and supportive environment. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those you serve while working within a professional healthcare team dedicated to person-centered care. Duties Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and mobility support. Administer medications following prescribed protocols and document accurately using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems. Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to ensure client health and safety. Provide specialized care and support for individuals with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, dementia, or behavioral health needs. Support clients in participating in social activities, community outings, vocational programs, and recreational opportunities to promote engagement and independence. Maintain cleanliness and safety within the home, residential facility, or community setting by performing routine housekeeping tasks and adhering to health and safety standards. Operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts, gait belts, wheelchairs, and other mobility aids to ensure safe transfers and prevent injuries. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, case managers, families, and team members to implement individualized care plans aligned with each client's goals and needs. Document daily activities, progress notes, behavioral observations, and incidents according to agency policies and regulatory requirements. Provide transportation assistance for appointments, community activities, and other client-related needs when required. Promote client rights, dignity, choice, and independence while ensuring compliance with all applicable policies and procedures. Respond appropriately to emergencies and utilize crisis intervention techniques when necessary. Skills Proven experience in direct support, home and community-based services, assisted living, group homes, nursing homes, behavioral health, or long-term care settings. Knowledge of medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and basic healthcare procedures. Familiarity with person-centered care practices, behavior management techniques, and support strategies for individuals with disabilities. Strong caregiving skills with the ability to assist with ADLs efficiently while maintaining dignity, respect, and confidentiality. Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, or other specialized support needs. Ability to operate EMR systems accurately for documentation and reporting purposes. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred for community-based support and transportation duties. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills to foster positive relationships with clients, families, and healthcare professionals. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently. Ability to remain calm, professional, and compassionate in challenging situations.
