Job Description

Job Summary The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs. This position involves assisting clients with daily living activities, promoting independence, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. The DSP will work closely with clients to enhance their quality of life through personalized care and support. Duties Provide assistance with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, and grooming. Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary needs and preferences. Administer medications as prescribed and monitor clients for any side effects or changes in condition. Assist clients in social activities and community engagement to promote socialization and inclusion. Maintain a clean and organized living space for clients, ensuring a safe environment. Monitor vital signs and report any significant changes to healthcare professionals. Document client progress and communicate effectively with family members, caregivers, and healthcare providers. Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's specific needs. Requirements Previous experience in home care, nursing homes, or direct support roles is preferred. Knowledge of meal preparation techniques and dietary considerations is beneficial. Familiarity with CPR certification and medication administration protocols is a plus. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families. Ability to perform basic cleaning tasks to maintain a hygienic living environment for clients. Willingness to work evenings or nights, as well as some weekends. Compassionate nature with a commitment to enhancing the well-being of individuals with disabilities or special needs. Must be able to pass background checks as required by state regulations. This role is essential in providing meaningful support to individuals in need, fostering independence, dignity, and respect in their daily lives.
