ABOUT THE ROLE
The Arc, Oneida-Lewis Chapter is seeking a Direct Support Professional to join our Day Habilitation Programs! In this role you will act as a role model for all persons being served, actively demonstrating the principles of respect, dignity, consumer rights and age appropriateness. You will also assist in the implementation of the person's LIFEPlan /Day Habilitation Plan by providing direct care, training, and supervision to the extent required by utilizing as many community based resources and supports as appropriate to the plan. Schedule/Hours Monday- Friday, 8:00 AM
- 3:30 PM or 8:30 AM
- 4:00 PM.
Responsibilities:
Actively works with the individual to promote choices and preferences. Assist in providing meaningful experiences within the community for individuals. Provide transportation for outings within the community, following established policies and procedures regarding the use of agency vehicles. Provide the extent of assistance necessary with activities of daily living, i.e. toileting, eating, ambulation, including the provision of lifting assistance as needed. Recognize and reports positive/negative responses to activities, as well as physical symptoms and other concerns to the appropriate team member promptly. Assists in maintaining a neat and orderly program area, putting away supplies and restocking supplies as necessary.Qualifications:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. with One year of experience in working with persons with developmental disabilities in an educational setting, or in a health care facility. Requirement of a high school diploma/G.E.D. may by waived in lieu of N.Y.S. Dept. of Health licensure as a Certified Nurses Aide (CNA), or comparable training or experience that correlates with the functions of this position. Valid NYS Driver's LicensePAY & PERKS
