Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Care Worker to join our team. As a Community Care Worker, you will provide essential support and assistance to individuals with special needs, including those with autism. Your role will involve working directly with clients and their families to ensure their well-being and promote their independence.Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support and care to individuals with special needs, including assisting with daily activities and personal care
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors
- Collect data on client progress and behavior using specified methods and tools
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as special education teachers and behavioral health specialists, to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Assist clients in developing essential life skills, such as communication, socialization, and self-care
- Provide transportation for clients to appointments, activities, or community outings
- Create a safe and supportive environment for clients, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions, progress, and any incidents that occur
Skills:
- Experience or knowledge in special education or caregiving is highly preferred
- Proficiency in data collection methods and techniques
- Familiarity with American Sign Language (ASL) is a plus
- Strong behavior management skills to effectively address challenging behaviors
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for client transportation
- Knowledge of behavioral health principles and strategies
- Experience in direct support or childcare roles is beneficial
