The Arc Greater Hudson Valley is a not-for-profit agency dedicated to providing support and services to over 1,800 people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and to their families in Sullivan, Orange and Dutchess Counties, New York. A chapter of The Arc New York, our main offices are located at 162 East Broadway in Monticello, NY. Our agency offers a broad range of services including Residential Services, Clinical Services, Day Services, Family Support Services, Guardianship Services, Employment Services, Recreation and more. Qualifications:
One year of experience working with people with developmental disabilities preferred . High School Diploma or GED preferred Proficiency in reading and writing in English.
Job Summary:
To provide direct support and advocacy to people with developmental disabilities in their community. DSPDs are responsible for delivering high-quality, person-centered services that promote individuality, independence, inclusion, productivity, and overall quality of life. Services must reflect what matters most to each person, support activities of daily living and community participation, and be delivered in a manner consistent with individual preferences, needs, and goals.

Adhere to all Agency policies and procedures, Codes of Conduct and Ethics, and all regulations governing service delivery. Follow direction, guidance, and feedback provided by supervisory staff. Maintain all required licenses, certifications (including medication certification), and credentials necessary to perform job duties.
Responsibilities:
Person-Centered Service Delivery Provide active, meaningful programming throughout the day that reflects individual interests, choices, and goals. Support people to build skills related to independence, community living, employment readiness, and social engagement. Ensure individual rights, dignity, health, and safety are safeguarded at all times. Deliver services in a culturally competent, respectful, and responsive manner. Supervision and Support of Individuals Provide continuous, active supervision of individuals while in the Day Habilitation program and during community activities. Assist individuals with activities of daily living and other supports as identified in habilitation plans. Serve as an advocate for individuals by accurately representing needs, preferences, and progress. Documentation and Compliance Complete all required service documentation accurately, thoroughly, and on time, in accordance with Agency and regulatory standards. Participate in incident prevention and, when necessary, respond to, report, and document incidents using approved formats and procedures. Follow all guidance related to documentation quality and compliance as provided by supervisory staff. Professional Development and Team Participation Participate in required trainings, in-services, and professional development opportunities. Apply learned skills and best practices in daily service delivery. Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members, and participate constructively in team meetings when required . Program Support Maintain organization, cleanliness, and safety of the work environment, materials, and supplies. Safely operate agency vehicles as required and follow all transportation procedures Support the overall functioning of the program by carrying out assigned duties consistent with program needs.
Physical Requirements :
Ability to assist with lifting, transferring, or repositioning individuals as needed. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to operate motor vehicles Maintain valid licenses {including driving license, as applicable], certifications or any other credentials that are required or necessary to carry out the responsibilities upon and throughout employment.
