Haverstraw, NY New City, NY Nanuet, NY Compensation:

$18.00 - $19.05 per hour (Based on qualifications and experience). Hiring managers will be conducting (in-person) interviews at this event. What is a Direct Support Professional? Direct Support Professionals (DSP's) work with people of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). The goal of a DSP is to help people with disabilities achieve the fullest lives possible by assisting them in areas and activities that promote self-sufficiency. DSP's work mainly consists of teaching life and job skills to people with I/DD in their individual residence, group home, or out in the community. This can include cooking, implementing non-medical health care suggestions, job coaching, home care, assisting with activities of daily living, and transportation .Successful DSPs demonstrate the following traits and abilities:> Empathy > Accountability > Time management > Interpersonal skills > Effective communication > Works well within a team > Patience > Detail oriented > Creativity > Problem solving. Valid Driver's License Required Applicants preferred to have a high school diploma or GED. No prior experience is required to become a DSP at YAI. All job-specific training will be conducted at YAI offices or on site at the individual programs. Full-time, Part-time, and Per-diem positions are available.
