Job Description
Overview We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide high-quality care and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, seniors, and those requiring specialized support in various care settings. This role involves working closely with residents to promote independence, safety, and well-being within group homes, assisted living facilities, or community-based environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to patient-centered care and possess relevant experience in home health, long-term care, or hospice services. Duties Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support Monitor and document patient health status, vital signs, and behavioral changes in accordance with care plans Administer medications and assist with medication management following HIPAA guidelines Support residents during meal preparation and feeding, ensuring nutritional needs are met Operate patient lifting equipment such as Hoyer lifts safely and effectively Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance residents' quality of life Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks as needed Follow individualized care plans developed by healthcare professionals or social workers Assist with transportation to medical appointments or community activities when required Observe and report any changes in residents' condition or behavior to supervising staff promptly Qualifications Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or home health care preferred Knowledge of patient care procedures including first aid, CPR, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or memory care needs Ability to assist with ADLs and perform heavy lifting safely when necessary Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a caregiving team Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to improve the lives of those served Relevant certifications such as CPR or First Aid are a plus but not mandatory; training can be provided for qualified candidates Join our team to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals requiring dedicated support.
