Job Description

Overview Are you a peer support specialist who is able to work in the community ? If so this job is perfect for you. The Certified Peer Support Specialist provides recovery-oriented support to individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges. Drawing from lived experience, the Peer Support Specialist fosters hope, empowerment, and self-advocacy while assisting clients in navigating recovery pathways, accessing resources, and building meaningful lives in the community. The peer support should be able to drive the company van to take patients to and from groups, NA/AA meetings, church, food panty, clothes panty, grocery store, and other sober events in the community. Hours will vary depending on the day tasks times between 8:30 am-8:30 pm, some potential weekend hours. This position requires compassionate and knowledgeable individual who is comfortable working with male patients that may have substance abuse or stable mental health issues. The peer support specialist should complete a peer note on patients daily, up to 8-12 notes per day, typically 30 minutes to one hour per day, and complete notes if taking patients out in the community. Duties Keep strict boundaries with clients Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards Build trusting, respectful relationships that promote hope, resilience, and personal growth Facilitate peer support groups, recovery meetings, and skill-building sessions Support clients in accessing community resources such as housing, employment, healthcare, and social services Advocate for client needs and support self-advocacy within treatment and community systems Collaborate with clinical staff and multidisciplinary teams to support holistic care Model healthy coping skills, boundaries, and recovery-oriented behaviors Participate in ongoing training, supervision, and professional development Requirements High school diploma or GED and above the age of 21. Medicaid billing number Peer support certification Valid driver's license Knowleage of substance abuse and mental health disorders. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations Basic computer skills and ability to complete electronic documentation
Pay:
$15.00 - $18.00 per hour People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply
