Position Summary The Direct Support Professional (DSP) helps individuals with developmental disabilities grow in independence, confidence, and connection. This role focuses on supporting people in their homes and communities, helping them pursue personal goals, build life skills, and enjoy everyday experiences that make life rich and meaningful. What You'll Do Help people build independence through everyday life skills such as cooking, shopping, budgeting, cleaning, and personal routines. Encourage people to explore interests, hobbies, and goals that bring them joy and purpose. Support community involvement through outings, appointments, events, volunteering, recreation, and social activities. Build positive, respectful relationships that help people feel safe, valued, and understood. Encourage choice and self-advocacy so each person has a strong voice in how they live their life. Work as part of a team to follow support plans and help each individual make progress toward personal goals. Provide day-to-day support that promotes health, safety, dignity, and comfort. Complete clear and timely documentation to keep the team informed and services running smoothly. Strong communication and teamwork skills. A desire to help others grow, succeed, and reach their full potential. High school diploma or GED. At least 18 years old. Ability to pass required background checks. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, if driving is required for the role. Willingness to complete training and learn new skills. About North Shore Services North Shore Services has been providing residential services for adults with developmental disabilities since 1985. Licensed by the State of Ohio and a Medicaid Individual Options Waiver provider, North Shore provides individuals with twenty-four-hour access to trained staff in group home and shared living (foster) settings in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. Our goal is to help each client achieve his or her greatest possible happiness and independence. We believe that our residents should be included in society and not segregated from it. Client self-determination, inclusion in the community, and positive staff intervention are fundamental to our philosophy.
