Overview The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role in providing individualized care and support to individuals with developmental and cognitive disabilities. This position involves working closely with residents to enhance their quality of life, promote independence, and ensure their safety and well-being. DSPs are essential members of the care team, fostering a supportive environment through compassionate interaction and dedicated service.

We are hiring two compassionate, empathetic, motivated, and reliable individuals to join our team at The Ark House, a grassroots, non-profit group home located in Columbus. This job is at one location, in a licensed group home that is licensed for five individuals in the DD community. Must be comfortable with animals inside the home. Must be able to pass a background check and have reliable transportation. We offer sick pay and PTO to both part-time and full-time employees. Experience in this field is not necessary; we will train the right people. You can learn more about who we are by going to www.arkhouseohio.org We are hiring for the following shifts: Saturday/Sunday 6 am-2 pm Saturday/Sunday 10 am-6 pm Duties Assist clients with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation. Monitor clients' vital signs and overall health status, reporting any changes to the appropriate healthcare professionals. Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation, including memory care for those with Alzheimer's or dementia. Perform light cleaning duties to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for clients. Assist with medication administration as prescribed by healthcare professionals. Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe patient transfers when necessary. Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the client's overall well-being. Collaborate with other healthcare providers, social workers, and family members to ensure comprehensive care. Experience First aid and CPR certification is mandatory, and we will provide training if you are not certified. Med certification training will also be provided.
