Direct Support Professional

Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with diverse needs, including developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, and other health conditions. In this vital role, you will assist clients with daily activities, promote independence, and ensure their safety and well-being in various settings such as group homes, assisted living facilities, and community-based environments. Your dedication will help enhance the quality of life for those you serve while fostering a respectful and empowering atmosphere. Responsibilities Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary. Monitor patients' vital signs and observe for any changes in health or behavior, documenting findings accurately in care plans. Administer medications following HIPAA guidelines and care protocols, ensuring safety and compliance at all times. Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with cooking as part of promoting independence. Provide emotional support and companionship, fostering a positive environment that encourages social interaction and community engagement. Maintain cleanliness of living spaces through regular cleaning tasks to ensure a safe and hygienic environment. Follow all safety procedures including CPR and First Aid certification to respond effectively during emergencies or incidents. Skills Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, Alzheimer's disease, or dementia care is highly valued. Strong knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring. Ability to lift heavy objects safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts; physically capable of assisting with resident transfers. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, clients, families, and healthcare professionals. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy of patient information. Experience in home health or hospice care is a plus; understanding of long-term care environments enhances your effectiveness.
