Job Description

Overview The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities or special needs. This position involves providing compassionate care and support in various settings, including a day program and community environments. The DSP is responsible for assisting clients with daily living activities, promoting independence, and ensuring their overall well-being. Responsibilities Assist clients with learning more about Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as good bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation skills. Provide medication administration as prescribed and ensure clients adhere to their medication schedules. Support clients in engaging with their community through social activities and outings. Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs and preferences. Perform heavy lifting when necessary to assist clients with mobility or transfers. Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, including teaching about cooking nutritious meals. Document client progress and any changes in behavior or health status accurately. • Skills Ability to lift and assist clients safely, demonstrating proper lifting techniques to prevent injury. Experience in senior care or home health settings is preferred. Knowledge of medication administration protocols and best practices. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and residential providers. Compassionate nature with a commitment to supporting individuals in achieving their personal goals. Familiarity with day program services and resources available for individuals with disabilities. This position requires a dedicated individual who is passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of those they serve while fostering independence and dignity within the community.
