Job Description

Job Summary Join our dedicated team as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or health challenges. In this vital role, you will provide compassionate, personalized care to promote independence, safety, and well-being. Your energetic and proactive approach will help create a supportive environment where clients can thrive and achieve their goals. This paid position offers an opportunity to develop valuable skills in patient care, community support, and caregiving while working in a rewarding and dynamic setting. Duties Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or transfer belts. Monitor patients' vital signs and observe for any changes in health status, documenting findings accurately while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal planning and cooking to promote healthy living. Support clients with medication administration following prescribed care plans and ensure safety during medication routines. Engage clients in social activities, recreational programs, and community outings to foster socialization and independence. Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties such as cleaning common areas and personal spaces regularly. Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement personalized care plans that meet each individual's unique needs, including dementia or Alzheimer's care when applicable. Qualifications Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, dementia, or in assisted living environments is highly preferred. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional training in HIPAA regulations is advantageous. Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physical tasks involved in patient handling and mobility assistance. Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and patient care; patience and compassion are essential qualities. Experience with home health or hospice care is a plus; familiarity with nursing home procedures or long-term care settings is beneficial. Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with clients, families, and healthcare professionals. Valid driver's license may be required for community outings or transportation assistance. $18.00 - $26.17 per hour
