Job Description

Job Overview Join our dedicated team as a Direct Support Professional (DSP), where you will play a vital role in empowering individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or health challenges to live fulfilling, independent lives. This energetic and compassionate position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day by providing personalized support, ensuring safety, and fostering a positive environment. As a DSP, you will work closely with residents, families, and healthcare teams to deliver high-quality care that promotes dignity, respect, and well-being. Responsibilities Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to support their independence and comfort. Monitor residents' health by taking vital signs, observing patient behavior, and reporting any changes or concerns promptly. Administer medications following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance. Prepare nutritious meals and assist with cooking while maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen area. Support residents during community outings or activities, encouraging social engagement and participation. Maintain a safe environment by performing cleaning duties, adhering to safety protocols like CPR and first aid procedures, and using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts safely. Document care activities accurately in resident records, including progress notes, incident reports, and updates to care plans. Qualifications Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care is highly preferred. Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring. Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or dementia care are advantageous. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, Alzheimer's disease or dementia is desirable. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and assist with mobility devices like Hoyer lifts when necessary. Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and engage positively with residents. Compassionate attitude with a commitment to providing respectful and person-centered care in various settings including hospice care or home health environments.
