Overview Join our dedicated team as a Direct Support Professional and become a vital part of empowering individuals with diverse needs to live fulfilling, independent lives. Your efforts will directly enhance the quality of life for residents by assisting with daily activities, implementing care plans, and promoting social engagement. Responsibilities Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary Monitor residents' health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare teams promptly Support medication administration in accordance with HIPAA regulations and care plans Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning to meet dietary needs and preferences Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and adhering to infection control protocols Document care activities accurately in compliance with privacy standards such as HIPAA and facility policies Provide emotional support and companionship to promote social interaction and mental well-being Assist with transportation to medical appointments or community outings, ensuring safety at all times Follow emergency procedures including CPR and first aid when necessary, ensuring resident safety at all times Skills Proven experience in assisted living, home health, or long-term care environments; group home experience is highly valued Knowledge of patient observation techniques and dementia or Alzheimer's care strategies Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate mobility aids like Hoyer lifts effectively Strong understanding of medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and patient care documentation Familiarity with working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorders Excellent communication skills to collaborate with healthcare teams, residents, and families Certifications in CPR, first aid, HIPAA compliance, and dementia or memory care are preferred but not required; training provided if needed Ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced environments while maintaining patience and compassion Embark on a career that truly makes a difference!
