Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with disabilities, assisting them in achieving their personal goals and enhancing their quality of life. Your commitment to care and understanding will make a significant impact on the lives of those you serve, ensuring they receive the support they need in a safe and nurturing environment. Responsibilities Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration. Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals and family members. Provide direct support in group home or home care settings, fostering independence and promoting social skills. Monitor clients' health and well-being, reporting any changes or concerns to the appropriate personnel. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of client information. Engage clients in recreational activities that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being. Document daily activities, progress notes, and any incidents as required by agency policies. Experience Previous experience in caregiving or direct support roles is preferred; experience in nursing homes or long-term care facilities is a plus. Familiarity with care plans and patient monitoring techniques is highly desirable. Knowledge of medication administration protocols is beneficial. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with clients, families, and team members. A compassionate approach to supporting individuals with diverse needs is essential. Must be able to pass background checks as required by state regulations.
