Direct Support Professional

Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide high-quality care and assistance to individuals with diverse needs, including developmental disabilities, aging, or health challenges. Duties Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts or assisting with transfers. Monitor residents' health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare teams promptly. Administer medications following prescribed care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy. Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with dietary guidelines and assist residents during meal times to promote independence. Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties, including cleaning resident areas and common spaces. Support residents in engaging with community activities, social outings, or recreational programs to enhance their quality of life. Follow all safety protocols related to CPR, First Aid, and emergency procedures to ensure resident safety at all times. Document care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies. Qualifications Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care environments is highly preferred. Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, autism support, and hospice care is advantageous. Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; additional training in medication administration or HIPAA compliance is a plus. Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physically demanding tasks such as patient transfers using Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices. Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and patient care documentation. Excellent communication skills for working effectively with residents, families, and healthcare teams.
