Job Description

Position Summary A Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides care, assistance, and support to individuals with intellectual, developmental, physical, or behavioral disabilities. DSPs help individuals live as independently as possible while promoting dignity, inclusion, and quality of life. Key Responsibilities Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. Provide support with meal preparation, feeding, and medication reminders or administration (as permitted by training and regulations). Assist with transportation to appointments, work, school, and community activities. Encourage independence and help individuals achieve personal goals. Monitor and document health, behavior, and progress. Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive living environment. Support social, recreational, and community engagement activities. Communicate effectively with family members, healthcare providers, supervisors, and other team members. Follow care plans, agency policies, and safety procedures. Respond appropriately to emergencies and behavioral situations. Qualifications High school diploma or GED (required by most employers). Previous caregiving or human services experience preferred but often not required. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required. Ability to pass background checks and required screenings. CPR, First Aid, and medication administration certifications are required. Skills and Abilities Compassion, patience, and empathy. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good organizational and documentation skills. Ability to lift, transfer, or assist individuals as needed
Pay:
$16.00 - $18.00 per hour
