Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with diverse needs. As a DSP, you will provide essential support to promote independence, safety, and well-being for residents in various care settings. Your energetic approach and attentive care will help create a nurturing environment where individuals can thrive. Responsibilities Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary. Monitor residents' health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes promptly to healthcare professionals. Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans to ensure safe and accurate delivery of treatments. Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with dietary restrictions and assist residents during meal times to promote proper nutrition. Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing regular cleaning duties and adhering to infection control protocols. Engage residents in social activities, recreational programs, and community outings to foster socialization and emotional well-being. Document care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare regulations and assist with updating individual care plans regularly. Experience Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or group homes is highly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of patient observation, dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, and hospice care practices. Hands-on experience with patient monitoring, vital signs collection, medication administration, and emergency response procedures such as CPR and first aid certification. Familiarity with working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Experience performing heavy lifting tasks safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident's lifts. Strong background in home health or home & community care environments that involve long-term caregiving responsibilities. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy of patient information.
