Xenia OH​ Job Summary The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides compassionate, person-centered care to individuals in their homes. The DSP supports clients with daily living activities, promotes independence, and ensures a safe, respectful, and supportive environment in accordance with agency policies and care plans. Key Responsibilities Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting Provide companionship and emotional support Assist with meal planning, preparation, and feeding if needed Perform light housekeeping (laundry, dishes, cleaning) Support clients with mobility and transfers (may include use of gait belt or lift equipment) Remind clients to take medications (as allowed by state regulations) Accompany clients to appointments, errands, and community activities Monitor and report changes in client condition to supervisor or nurse Maintain accurate documentation and daily care notes Follow individualized care plans and agency policies Ensure client safety, dignity, and confidentiality at all times Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred Previous experience in home care, caregiving, or direct support preferred CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (if required) Ability to pass background check and drug screening Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to lift/move clients (as required for the role) Skills & Competencies Compassion, patience, and empathy Dependability and professionalism Ability to follow instructions and care plans Problem-solving and observation skills Respect for cultural diversity and individual preferences Working Conditions Work is performed in clients' homes May require evening, weekend, or holiday shifts Physical demands include standing, bending, lifting, and assisting clients Benefits Competitive pay Flexible scheduling Training and career development
