Area Relief Specialist Position Type:
Full-time Position Overview:
As an Area Relief Specialist, you will work across programs in our residential department, being a role model of providing person centered supports within your assigned area. You will be essential in ensuring that individuals are supported in a person-centered manner, promoting reassurance, stability, and support to both team members and those they support. This role is crucial during long-term openings or when additional staffing is needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Support Duties:
Assist individuals in leading self-directed lives and participating fully in their communities. Follow individual support plans, recognizing and responding to needs and emergencies. Educate individuals on personal preferences, food preparation, hygiene, and health tracking. Manage and administer medications per regulations and ensure all medications are properly labeled and available. Assist in transportation for recreational, employment, or medical/mental health appointments.
Communication and Team Support:
Maintain open communication with supervisors and team members. Promote positive and respectful communication with supported individuals. Engage individuals in community-based outings and activities. Participate in agency operations, providing feedback and input for improvement.
Operational and Safety Duties:
Follow safety procedures for adaptive equipment use. Monitor and document health status, complete daily documentation requirements. Ensure safe and sanitary working conditions, handle corporate and individual funds responsibly. Monitor and report maintenance and health/safety needs promptly.
Requirements:
Be an approved driver, following all DMV and agency driving regulations. High school diploma or GED Complete required certifications and maintain knowledge of agency policies and procedures. Work a flexible schedule, including last-minute changes to schedule or location. Obtain and maintain certification, nursing delegation and other requirements throughout employment. Support the training of new advocates
Physical Demands:
Lift up to 50 lbs and assist in positioning individuals. Perform physical tasks including walking, house cleaning, and maintaining a professional demeanor. Handle potential conflict and tension with a positive attitude. Perform trained restraints as needed, following behavior support plans.
Travel:
Travel is expected for this position.
