Job Description

Shifts for this full time position:
Sunday:
2pm-10pm
Monday:
12pm-8pm
Tuesday:
12pm-8pm
Wednesday:
6am-2pm
Thursday:
12pm-8pm Can I pick up extra shifts? Yes! Up & Out offers On Call shifts as needed, with multiple shifts available a week. What are the Responsibilities of a DSP (Direct Support Professional)? DSPs support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) by providing them with safe living environments, helping them with daily tasks, and teaching them life skills.
This could include:
Assisting in meal preparation and follow menus. Maintaining a sanitary environment. Evaluating and documenting client progress. Administering client medication treatments, per agency policy. Attending to client medical needs. Utilizing a basic knowledge of behavior management. What are the requirements to become a DSP? No direct caregiving experience is required. A sincere desire to work with adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) is the most critical qualification. Ability to communicate and work positively with adults with I/DD and their families, other community members and program staff. Must be literate and capable of understanding written and verbal orders. Must have the ability to stay calm in stressful situations and be able to respond in emergency situations at all times. Must be 18 years or older and eligible to work in the United States. Must consent to and pass a criminal background check.
