Job Description

Schedule:
Approximately 15-20 hours per week, 3pm-7pm, Monday through friday Job Summary Lafia Healthcare is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and patient Companion/Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support an adult male with intellectual disability and autism spectrum disorder. The ideal candidate will assist with community participation, social engagement, recreational activities, safety supervision, and skill development while promoting independence and quality of life. Responsibilities Provide companionship and community-based support. Accompany and support the individual during recreational and community activities. Encourage appropriate social interactions and communication. Provide verbal prompts, redirection, and positive behavioral supports as needed. Support participation in hobbies, walks, shopping trips, community events, and other preferred activities. Ensure health and safety during all activities and outings. Maintain documentation and service notes according to agency and ODP requirements. Communicate effectively with family members, supervisors, and support team members. Qualifications Experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism, or behavioral needs preferred. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred. Ability to pass background checks and complete required ODP training. Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and maintain professionalism. Preferred Qualities Experience supporting adults with autism. Ability to redirect and support individuals who may become anxious with changes in routine. Interest in community engagement, recreation, and promoting independence.
Schedule:

$17.00 per hour
