Job Description

Overview Join our dedicated team as a Direct Support Professional and become a vital part of empowering individuals with diverse needs to live fulfilling, independent lives. In this role, you will provide compassionate, personalized care and support to residents in various settings, including group homes, assisted living facilities, and community-based programs. Your energy and commitment will help foster a safe, respectful environment where each individual's dignity is prioritized. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day while developing your skills in patient care, caregiving, and community support. Responsibilities Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance using tools like Hoyer lifts when necessary. Monitor residents' health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare teams promptly. Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans to ensure safety and compliance. Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary needs and assist residents during meal times to promote independence. Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning duties and adherence to infection control protocols. Engage residents in social activities and community outings to promote socialization and mental well-being. Document care activities accurately in compliance with privacy regulations such as HIPAA, including incident reports and progress notes. Experience Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, dementia (including Alzheimer's and memory care), or in hospice or senior care settings is highly valued. Demonstrated knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs monitoring, and medication administration. Experience in group home settings or assisted living facilities is preferred. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or nursing assistant credentials are a plus. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate mobility aids like Hoyer lifts when supporting residents with mobility challenges. Familiarity with home health care practices, patient monitoring tools, and creating or following personalized care plans enhances your ability to succeed in this role.
