Overview Join our dedicated team as a Direct Support Professional and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with diverse needs. In this vital role, you will provide compassionate, personalized care to promote independence, safety, and well-being. Whether supporting residents in group homes, assisted living facilities, or through home and community care, your efforts will empower individuals to thrive in a nurturing environment. This paid position offers a rewarding opportunity to develop your caregiving skills while fostering a positive impact on those you serve. Duties Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary Monitor residents' health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare professionals Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans to ensure safety and compliance Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary restrictions and preferences while maintaining cleanliness in kitchen areas Maintain a safe environment through regular cleaning, sanitation, and organization of living spaces and common areas Engage residents in social activities and community outings to promote socialization and mental stimulation Document care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies Skills Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, dementia, or Alzheimer's disease in settings such as group homes or assisted living facilities Knowledge of patient observation techniques, patient monitoring, and dementia or memory care best practices Certification in CPR and First Aid to respond effectively during emergencies Familiarity with medication administration procedures and HIPAA privacy standards Ability to lift heavy objects safely and assist residents with mobility using equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident's lifts Strong communication skills for collaborating with healthcare teams, residents, and families Compassionate caregiving approach combined with patience, attentiveness, and respect for individual dignity This role is ideal for motivated individuals eager to develop their skills in nursing home care, home health services, hospice care, or social work.
