Safety Equipment Provided Position Overview:
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will be an integral part of a team supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities. In this role, you will provide essential personal care services and assist individuals in thriving in their daily lives and integrating into the community. You'll help individuals with a variety of activities, such as personal care, meal prep, mobility assistance, and more, all while fostering a positive, supportive environment.
Essential Functions:
Provide personal care services (e.g., transferring, bathing, toileting, grooming, etc.) per the Individual Support Plan (ISP)
Assist with health maintenance tasks, including non-skilled wound care and bowel program
Observe, document, and report on client conditions
Help with mobility and transportation, including driving clients when needed
Administer medications as directed
Support the integration of individuals into the community
Maintain accurate, timely documentation of appointments, purchases, and activities
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Compassionate and respectful approach to care
Ability to work independently and in a team
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Good judgment and patience in challenging situations
Ability to comply with federal, state and agency regulations
Ability to work with residents of all physical and mental capabilities
Physical Demands:
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to operate necessary equipment, such as a Hoyer lift, with assistance
Ability to handle high-stress situations and respond quickly to emergencies
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years old
High School Diploma or GED required
Valid PA Driver's License and reliable transportation
Ability to complete required training and attend staff meetings
