Position Description Job Title Direct Support Staff Immediate Supervisor Administrative Staff and/or Board of Directors General Responsibilities Responsible for assisting consumers with their behavioral needs under Community Care Behavioral Health (CCBH), Medical Assistance (MA), or the Adult Autism, Consolidated, or PFD/s Waivers administered by Pennsylvania's Department of Human Services (DHS) Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) and the Bureau of Autism Services (BAS). Responsible for providing assistance to consumers through approved behavioral interventions, supporting treatment team and family members, advocating on behalf of the consumer, and providing information/referral services, as well as other responsibilities as described by the funding source, private insurance entity, DHS, ODP, or BAS. The Direct Support Staff is intended to function as a coordinating member of the team who will work with consumers, treatment team members, families, and various administrative entities to inform and implement a behavioral support plan. Principal Duties Within the guidelines of ADERS policies and procedures, the Direct Support Staff will: ▪ Uphold the ADERS mission statement while providing quality services. ▪ Establish and maintains therapeutic relationship by pairing self as a reinforcing entity and building the value for the consumer of social interaction with the Direct Support Staff. ▪ Prompt safe and socially acceptable replacement behaviors in order to build a repertoire of communication, social interaction, and problem solving skills. ▪ Fade prompts appropriately to promote both successful and independent responding. ▪ Increase the frequency or duration of safe and appropriate replacement behaviors by providing access to reinforcers (desired items/actions, attention, or removal of demands/aversive situations). ▪ Provide access to reinforcers within the parameters most likely to increase future behavior (value, effort required, rate, magnitude, intensity, immediacy). ▪ Limit or remove access to reinforcers within limits of safety when consumer engages in inappropriate or unsafe behaviors. ▪ Accurately collect behavior data including A-B-C, count, frequency, duration, latency, inter-response time, event, and interval based recording. ▪ Follow the treatment plan goals and interventions utilizing sound judgment and seek out appropriate consultation and supervision. ▪ Collaborate with family and treatment team members to provide treatment effectively and without disruption to the environment or other individuals in the environment. ▪ Demonstrate abilities to be flexible and proactive in problem solving. ▪ Participate in ongoing periodic supervision with clinical team (BSS and/or psychologist). ▪ Comply with regulations set forth in CCBH, MA, ODP, DHS, and BAS' service descriptions including the role as a mandated reporter for completing incident/risk management reports with the agency point person. ▪ Promote Autism Awareness and ADERS' other services and programs. ▪ Collaborate with all team members to ensure the delivery of quality services. ▪ Prepare forms, narratives, and documentation including monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports for all services as outline by insurance companies, CCBH, Medical Assistance, Pennsylvania's DHS, ODP, and BAS, and as requested by ADERS administration. ▪ Prepare and distribute all documentation including: encounter forms, data sheets, time and mileage tracking, and other documentation to ADERS administration or other entities within assigned deadlines. ▪ Participate in outreach activities, workshops, or conventions in areas of Autism and other disabilities services. ▪ Perform duties according to ADERS' confidentiality guidelines for protection of consumer information as required under the
US-DHH HIPAA
Regulations. ▪ Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology or another human services related field. Must be a PA resident over the age of 18. Will have to clear background checks (criminal history, FBI, child abuse, medicheck and LEIE) to be eligible for employment. Must be able to access transportation, e-mail, and other electronic files. Wage and Hour Law Status Hourly Rate for Direct Support Staff required work (direct and indirect): $____.____ Travel costs will be reimbursed for mileage incurred only when transporting consumers or when required to attend training functions. Other expenses must be cleared with the immediate supervisor and/or administration in advance.
