As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will play a vital role in empowering individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, and other disabilities to live fulfilling, independent lives. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to provide compassionate care, support daily living activities, and foster community integration. Your dedication will help create a safe, supportive environment where individuals can thrive and reach their full potential. Duties Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, grooming, meal preparation, and medication administration when necessary. Support behavioral health and behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and emotional well-being. Facilitate communication using various methods, including American Sign Language (ASL), to ensure effective understanding and expression. Provide transportation and driving support for appointments, community outings, or recreational activities. Collect data on progress, behaviors, and goals to track development and inform care plans. Engage in social work practices by building trusting relationships and fostering social skills within the community. Support children with childcare needs in home or community settings, ensuring safety and engagement. Qualifications Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or behavioral health needs is highly preferred. Knowledge of special education techniques and behavior management strategies. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with individuals of diverse abilities. Ability to assist with ADLs and provide caregiving support in various settings. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for driving duties. Familiarity with data collection methods related to progress tracking or behavior monitoring. Prior experience in home & community care environments is a plus; certifications such as medication administration or behavioral health training are advantageous.
