Job Description

Job Summary The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities. This position involves assisting clients in daily living activities, promoting their independence, and ensuring their overall well-being. The DSP will work closely with clients to implement care plans, support their personal goals, and advocate for their rights within various living environments such as assisted living facilities and nursing homes. Duties Assist clients with daily living activities including cooking, personal hygiene, and mobility. Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs and preferences. Support clients in social activities and community integration to enhance their quality of life. Monitor and document client progress, behaviors, and any changes in condition. Advocate for resident rights and ensure a safe, respectful environment. Provide assistance with medication management as needed. Lift and transfer clients safely while adhering to proper techniques. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and social workers to coordinate care. Experience Previous experience in a caregiving role is preferred; experience in nursing homes, other residential agencies, or assisted living settings is a plus. Understanding of resident rights and advocacy for individuals with developmental disabilities is essential. Skills in cooking nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs are advantageous. A background in social work or related fields can enhance the effectiveness of the role. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and assist clients with mobility challenges. This position requires a dedicated individual who is passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of those they support.
