DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONALS NEEDED!
1 Part Time Position available at our Seven Mile Road group home in Hope, RI.
PT Schedule:
Mon 10am-6pm, Tues 8am-4pm, Thurs 7am-3pm
SUMMARY:
Directly supports individuals in identifying and achieving life goals. Works as a member of the multi-disciplinary team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. To work towards strategies that promote individual independence and self esteem by assisting persons in: Making choices of activities that will foster individualized experiences in a wide range of community settings; Promoting development of relationships with others; including family, employers and community members; Developing competencies in areas such as social, recreational, vocational, physical, educational, self care and home management. To demonstrate respect and advocate for individual Human Rights and confidentiality. To participate with persons, program consultants, residential, vocational and administrative staff in designing and implementing positive behavioral supports plans, and individualized goals. To gain and maintain good working knowledge of all programming (BSP, OT, PT, Speech, etc.) and to perform same safely, consistently, thoroughly and professionally. To have personalized but professional relationships with consumers and be a positive role model, using an approach that is both respectful and inclusive. To complete all mandatory agency training and in-house in-service training as scheduled. To work as a team member by: Establishing and maintaining professional relationships with co-workers, guardians, family, and clinical support staff; Assisting new employees in developing necessary job skills; Solving problems in early stages by directly addressing concerns to the appropriate persons and using established problem solving and grievance procedures. To do fair share of workload. To assist in the provision of a safe and sanitary living/work environment. To carry out regular and special responsibilities in a reliable and flexible manner. To demonstrate a positive attitude towards spurwink|ri policy, be supportive of agency mission, vision, values and constructively address agency concerns with appropriate persons. To be punctual and dependable. To perform responsibilities and assignments as deemed necessary and appropriate by the supervising body and/or designated staff, and which are in accordance with regulations, policies and/or daily functions of the program. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
REQUIRED
All applicants MUST present at initial in person interview: Valid driver's license, Valid auto insurance, auto registration and up to date inspection.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Drivers license/registration and personal vehicle insurance
Completion of National and State of RI Background Criminal Records Check OTHER:
As an employee of spurwink|ri, the support worker is expected to adhere to the policies and procedures of spurwink|ri.
