Job Description

Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily activities and personal care. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of clients by delivering respectful, high-quality care within various settings such as assisted living facilities, group homes, or home health environments. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to patient well-being, excellent observational skills, and experience working with diverse populations, including those with developmental disabilities, dementia, or autism. This paid position emphasizes professionalism, empathy, and attention to detail to ensure the safety and comfort of each individual served. Responsibilities Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support. Monitor patients' health status by observing vital signs, reporting changes, and maintaining accurate care records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support medication administration and help implement personalized care plans tailored to each individual's needs. Provide companionship and emotional support to promote mental well-being and social engagement. Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with dietary restrictions and assist with meal planning and preparation. Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces. Operate specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices safely while adhering to safety protocols for heavy lifting and patient transfer procedures. Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals, family members, and team members to ensure comprehensive patient care. Participate in ongoing training related to CPR, first aid, dementia care, hospice support, or other relevant certifications to enhance caregiving skills. Qualifications Prior experience in home health care, assisted living, nursing homes, or group homes is highly desirable. Knowledge of patient observation techniques and familiarity with care plans is essential. Certification in CPR and first aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA compliance or dementia training are advantageous. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Alzheimer's disease, or memory care needs is preferred. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when necessary for patient transfers or mobility assistance. Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate approach toward clients from diverse backgrounds. Basic proficiency in cooking nutritious meals aligned with dietary guidelines for various health conditions. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are beneficial for home care assignments.
