Job Description
Job Overview Join our dedicated team as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, and other special needs. In this rewarding role, you will provide compassionate, person-centered support to promote independence, community engagement, and overall well-being. Duties Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation to foster independence and dignity. Support behavioral health and behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and emotional stability. Facilitate community outings, social activities, and recreational events to encourage socialization and community integration. Collect data on progress, behaviors, and service outcomes to inform care plans and ensure compliance with regulations. Administer medication following prescribed protocols while maintaining accurate medication administration records. Use effective communication skills including American Sign Language when necessary to enhance understanding and interaction. Drive individuals safely to appointments or community activities using personal or agency vehicles as required. Requirements Diploma or GED or Equivalent Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or disabilities in home or community settings. Knowledge of special education principles and behavioral health practices. Strong communication skills with the ability to connect empathetically with diverse populations. Valid driver's license and clean driving record for transportation duties. Ability to assist with ADLs and provide caregiving support in various environments. Familiarity with data collection methods related to client progress or behavioral tracking. Basic understanding of medication administration protocols; previous experience is a plus.
