Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary The Home Care Attendant works independently with periodic supervisory visits; receives instructions, from Department Director and/or Department assistant, detailing when to visit clients and what services to perform. The aide's average routine may vary daily while working with a number of different clients, each job lasting a few hours per day over weeks or months. This is a "safety-sensitive" position that requires pre-employment substance abuse screening and additional screening(s) when warranted.Note:
This position requires a criminal background check. Therefore, applicants may be required to provide information about their criminal history in order to be considered for this position. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position. Provide housekeeping services which includes but is not limited to: General cleaning in clients' homes; sweeping, mopping, dusting, changing bed linens, laundry, etc. Use of standard cleaning tools including a mop, broom, dustpan and vacuum cleaner Basic knowledge of cleaning supplies and their uses Runs errands which may include but may not be limited to: Pharmacy pick-up Grocery shopping Laundry Mat Responsible to handling money Meal planning (including special diets); grocery shopping and food preparation. Provide instruction and psychological and emotional support to clients (i.e. psychological support in the form of a generous/compassionate act given in time of need. We offer no psychological counseling. Instruction by coaxing client to properly care for themselves in regards to hygiene or eating properly.) Provide personal assistance, stand-by assistance and supervision or cues for clients having difficulties with daily living activities. Maintain records of service(s) performed and noting clients' condition and progress. Report changes in the client's condition to the supervisor or case manager. Mandatory reporter of suspected or alleged physical, mental, emotional, or sexual abuse or neglect, financial exploitation severe self-neglect and all critical incidents to Adult Protective Services, supervisor, contractors and the state. Competencies Must possess communication skills; including verbal and listening skills. Skill in observing, reporting and documenting patient status and care of services provided. Ability to administer basic infection control procedures. Knowledge of basic elements of body functions and changes awareness. Maintenance of a clean, safe and healthy environment. Ability to recognize and administer emergency procedure(s). Knowledge of physical, emotional and developmental characteristics of the patients served. Knowledge of personal hygiene and grooming. Knowledge of safe transfer techniques; normal range of motion and positioning. Basic nutrition knowledge. Basic first aid knowledge. Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment Work environment surroundings differ from case to case. Some homes are neat and pleasant while others are untidy or depressing. Some clients are angry, abusive, depressed or otherwise difficult; others are pleasant and cooperative. Physical Demands Must possess mobility to work in a home setting and use of standard cleaning tools including a mop, broom, dust pan and vacuum cleaner; strength to lift and carry a minimum of 30 pounds; vision to read printed materials, hearing and speech to communicate in person. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a part-time position, variable hours 7 days a week. Travel Aides may spend a significant portion of the workday traveling from one client to another. Aides often visit four or five clients in the same workday. Education and Experience 1. High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred. 2. CNA certified or proof of training preferred. Requirements, Qualifications Minimum of 18 years of age. Pass pre-employment drug test. Pass subsequent drug screening. Maintain a substance abuse free employment record. Pass background check. Possess and maintain valid Tennessee Class D Drivers' license. Possess and maintain satisfactory driving record. Provide transportation for job travel. Proof of automobile insurance. Current Sethra employees must fill out internal job interest form from the HUB and send to HR Dept.Pay:
