Direct Support Professional

Job Overview The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in assisting individuals with disabilities to lead fulfilling lives. This position involves providing support in daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring the safety and well-being of clients in various settings, at home and in the community. The DSP will work closely with clients to facilitate their personal care needs and engage them in meaningful activities. Duties Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation. Provide medication administration as required, ensuring compliance with prescribed schedules. Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's unique needs and preferences. Maintain a clean and safe living environment for clients, adhering to hygiene standards. Support clients in social and recreational activities to enhance their quality of life. Monitor clients' physical and emotional well-being, reporting any changes or concerns to the appropriate personnel. Provide first aid and CPR as necessary in emergency situations. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including nurses and other healthcare professionals, to ensure comprehensive care for clients. Qualifications Experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred. Knowledge of CPR and First Aid certification is a plus. Familiarity with medication administration practices is beneficial. Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and build rapport with clients. Ability to maintain a clean environment and promote hygiene practices among clients. Compassionate nature with a commitment to providing high-quality care. Previous experience in supportive care settings is advantageous but not required.
