Job Description

Direct Support Professional Supportive In-Home Care, Inc Job Overview We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide high-quality care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or other health challenges. This role involves assisting residents with daily activities, ensuring their safety, and promoting independence within a supportive environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to person-centered care, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Prior experience in home & community care, assisted living, or long-term care settings is highly valued. Responsibilities Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting Support residents with medication reminders and management in accordance with care plans Respite care Provide companionship and emotional support to promote mental well-being Assist with meal preparation and feeding as needed, ensuring nutritional needs are met Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning and laundry Use specialized equipment like Hoyer lifts for resident transfers safely and effectively Follow care plans meticulously while documenting observations in compliance with HIPAA regulations Support residents during outings or community activities to foster social engagement Recognize signs of medical emergencies or behavioral changes and respond appropriately by contacting medical professionals or family members Requirements Prior experience in group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or home health care is preferred Valid Drivers License and Insurance Certifications such as CPR and First Aid are highly desirable; willingness to obtain these certifications is required if not already held Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or memory care needs is advantageous Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for resident transfers or mobility assistance Strong communication skills and patience when working with diverse populations including seniors and individuals with disabilities Successfully pass background check Flexibility to work various shifts including days, evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed This role provides an enriching opportunity for those passionate about caregiving and supporting individuals in achieving their highest quality of life.
