Based in Roane County, Michael Dunn Center operates 20+ residential homes and a full continuum of supports for individuals with diverse needs. About the DSP Role A Direct Support Professional (DSP) is more than a caregiver. You're a mentor, advocate, and partner in helping someone achieve their personal goals.
DSPs support the whole person:
encouraging independence, building life skills, and fostering community inclusion. You'll play an essential role in helping individuals live active, meaningful lives with dignity and choice. Key Responsibilities Support individuals with daily living activities, including personal care, meal prep, and household tasks. Follow individualized support plans and help individuals reach personal goals and milestones. Encourage community participation by accompanying individuals to appointments, activities, and social events. Administer medications safely and accurately; document all required information in accordance with protocols. Build positive, trusting relationships and provide emotional support while respecting personal preferences and boundaries. Maintain accurate documentation of daily progress, incidents, and observations in logs and electronic systems. Advocate for individual rights, ensuring each person's voice, needs, and choices are supported. Tools & Technology DSPs at Michael Dunn Center use: Electronic Health Records (EHR) or client management software Communication tools (secure messaging, phone, email) Adaptive equipment to support mobility, communication, and daily living Standard household appliances and agency vehicles Online training platforms and professional development resources Schedule Options We're a 24/7, 365-day agency and currently have openings for: Evenings Overnights Weekends Flexible scheduling is available. Pay & Benefits Starting pay: $15.80 per hour Shift differential pay Medical, Dental, Vision insurance (eligible after 60 days) 401(k) with employer match Paid Time Off (PTO) Requirements To ensure the safety, well-being, and success of the individuals we support, candidates must meet the following requirements: Valid driver's license with the ability to drive agency vehicles and maintain a clean driving record. Clear background check and the ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screen. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively support individuals, document services, and collaborate with team members. Empathy, patience, and reliability, with a genuine commitment to person-centered care. High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Relevant experience or certifications in caregiving, healthcare, behavioral health, or disability services are a plus, but not required. Training is provided.
