This position focuses on enhancing the quality of life for clients by promoting independence, dignity, and respect. The DSP will work closely with clients in various settings, including residential homes and community environments, ensuring that their daily needs are met while fostering a safe and supportive atmosphere. Duties Assist clients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management. Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the well-being of clients. Ensure a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping tasks. Observe and report changes in clients' conditions or behaviors to appropriate personnel. Advocate for resident rights and ensure that clients are treated with dignity and respect. Support clients in participating in community activities and social events to promote engagement. Assist with mobility needs, including lifting and transferring clients as necessary. Maintain accurate documentation of care provided and any incidents that occur during shifts. Skills Strong understanding of senior care principles and home care practices. Certification in CPR is preferred to ensure client safety during emergencies. Ability to cook nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs. Knowledge of resident rights and advocacy techniques to empower clients. Proficient in direct support techniques that promote client independence. Excellent patient observation skills to identify changes in health or behavior promptly. Compassionate demeanor with strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and their families. Physical capability to lift clients safely and assist them with mobility challenges.
