This position involves assisting patients with daily living activities, ensuring comfort, and supporting their emotional and physical well-being. The Hospice Aide works under the supervision of nursing staff and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality hospice care in a home or facility setting. Duties Assist patients with personal hygiene, grooming, and bathing. Help with mobility and transferring patients as needed. Monitor and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and respiration. Provide companionship and emotional support to patients and families. Assist with meal preparation and feeding when necessary. Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients, ensuring all areas are tidy and organized. Support patients with catheter care and other medical needs as directed by nursing staff. Document patient care activities accurately in accordance with agency policies. Communicate effectively with healthcare team members regarding patient status and changes in condition. Skills Knowledge of medical terminology to understand patient care needs effectively. Experience in dementia care to provide specialized support for patients experiencing cognitive decline. Familiarity with home community care practices to enhance the quality of life for patients in their own homes. Ability to work with individuals who have developmental disabilities, ensuring respectful and effective communication. Proficiency in patient care techniques that promote comfort and dignity for those at end-of-life stages. Competence in taking vital signs accurately to monitor patient health status. Understanding of home health practices that ensure safe and effective caregiving. Skills in catheter care to assist patients with urinary needs while maintaining hygiene standards. Commitment to maintaining a clean environment conducive to patient health.
