Direct Support Professional One on One

About the Role We're seeking a dedicated 1:1 Direct Support Professional to work exclusively with an adult male client who can become easily agitated and requires continuous redirection and supervision. As a 1:1 staff member, you will build rapport and maintain a calm, structured environment—helping our client manage anxiety, prevent escalations, and safely engage in daily activities.

Schedule:

Swing Shift (Mon-Fri): 4 PM - 12

AM Weekend Coverage:

Exact hours vary (typically 8 AM - 9 PM or similar). You will rotate with another weekend staff member, ensuring at least one 1:1 professional is on duty whenever the client is awake. Key Responsibilities Provide constant, one-to-one supervision and redirection to prevent agitation or self-harm. Recognize early signs of anxiety or frustration; immediately de-escalate using verbal prompts, redirection, and calming techniques. Assist with daily living tasks as needed (e.g., meal preparation, medication reminders, hygiene prompts). Engage the client in structured activities (games, community outings, chores) to promote positive coping skills. Document any behavioral incidents, redirection techniques used, and outcomes in daily logs. Communicate proactively with supervisors and therapists regarding pattern changes or emerging concerns. Maintain a calm, consistent approach—even during challenging behaviors—always prioritizing the client's safety and dignity. Transport (or accompany) the client on outings as needed (grocery store, appointments, recreational activities) and ensure safe return to the home.
