A Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides care and support to individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities in a home or community setting. DSPs help individuals live safely, build independence, and take part in daily activities and community life while respecting their choices and personal goals. 276-266-7743 or call and leave message Main Duties Assist individuals with daily living skills such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting Help prepare meals and support healthy eating habits Give reminders or assistance with medications as directed Support individuals during community outings, appointments, shopping, and recreational activities Encourage independence and personal choice Help with household chores such as laundry, cleaning, and organizing Monitor health, safety, and behaviors and report concerns to supervisors Complete daily documentation and progress notes Provide transportation when needed Follow individualized support plans and safety procedures Skills and Qualities Patience and compassion Good communication skills Dependable and responsible Ability to work independently and as part of a team Basic computer and documentation skills Ability to handle emergencies calmly Respectful of individual rights and confidentiality Education and Requirements Must be 18 years of age Active driving license with Good driving record Background check required CPR and First Aid certification, and other classes that are provided Experience working with people with disabilities is helpful but not required

Pay:

$14.50 - $15.00 per hour
